Two people have been arrested over the double murder of a 15-year-old and a 23-year-old in Islington, north London.

The two suspects, aged 27 and 17, were arrested on Monday evening on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

They remain in custody in a north London police station.

The 15-year-old victim, Leonardo Reid, was found wounded at around 11.30pm on Thursday in Elthorne Road, Islington, after police and paramedics were called to reports of a stabbing. He was pronounced dead shortly after midnight.

The 23-year-old who was also discovered with stab injuries on the same night was pronounced dead at a west London hospital.

A 46-year-old man who was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of murder and attempted murder was later released with no further action.

Police said in a statement on Friday that they believe a large number of people were present when the attack took place and are urging witnesses and those with information to come forward.

Chief Superintendent Andy Carter said: “My thoughts are with the families of the two victims who have suffered such an unimaginable loss in this shocking and unacceptable incident.”
